Since 1969

How it became a pub

A drawing of the Tudor Arms front with five arched windows and the name Tudor Arms on the sign
The front, drawn on an old menu card.
  1. 1968

It actually all started in the summer of 1968, when a “British Week” festival was arranged in Kungsträdgården in central Stockholm, and at the centre of the festival was a “genuine” British Pub brought all the way from the UK.

  2. 1969

The Tudor Arms opened its doors to the thirsty Stockholm public on 2 October 1969 as the first pub of its kind in Sweden. Everything was made in London, then transported to Stockholm. The interior is constructed solely using oak.

  3. 1970–80

For the whole of the 1970s we were obliged to renew our full licence every year, as a completely new application. From 1 January 1980 the licence has been permanent.

  4. Today

Chris and his dedicated staff, now into the 2nd generation, have been running the Tudor Arms.

  5. 2069

Our 100th birthday is on 2 October 2069!
